A standardized learning program for a universal and selective prevention for couples and marriages is presented in this lecture. For the time being it is meant for Christians but will later also be opened to other groups. The aim of the program is to support couples in the process of strengthening of their mutual love and their individuality respectively. This is supposed to be done on the basis of their individual development and their already existing competences. Sexuality and spirituality as two essential aspects for the success of a relationship are in the centre of interest. These are completed by a part on stress management, because people’s social environment has an increasingly destabilizing effect on partnerships. The presented learning program gives information, imparts skills and gives enough room for practical trainings. Thus an individual and partner orientated development is stimulated. The program incorporates the results of the research of H. Markman & J. Gottman.
The portrayed program is carried out on weekends (from Fridays 5pm to Sundays 6pm). It comprises eleven units of 100 minutes each. 40 minutes of each unit are included for conversations between the partners. Two course instructors accompany four couples. The survey of the achieved effects is aimed as a prospective longitudinal study. The possible effects of 100 couples will be investigated by questionnaires and videos for five years in the interval of six months. The study starts in April 2008.
